2/ 07
Scouting Mondays are the first Monday of each Month.
The purpose is to assist hike leaders and monthly captains prepare for future hikes, we will go out in groups (2 - 4 per group?) to areas where members plan to scout/then lead a hike. Groups can car pool and possibly scout several hikes in one direction for that "Scouting Monday". Several groups from each hike level could go in different directions refining or learning our current good hikes researching new ones. All members are welcome and leading is not a requirement, but it is a fun and rewarding activity, especially if you have scouted and are prepared. Those leading that month or planning for the next month should announce their plans and use maps to plan their day, others can go to assist, learn or just make it a group. The club hike captains for that month will coordinate activities where needed, along with our Vice President and President. This would assist hike captains selecting leaders/locations for the month, as well as find new hikes for us. It is also a way for members to learn to become hike leaders.
We will meet at our regular time and place (8:45 rear Gateway) but on the first Monday of each month to finalize scouting, groups and car pools. Should the first Monday be a holiday, we will move to the next day or “Scouting Tuesday” that month. Should the club be on Safari the first Monday, we would move back one week to the last Monday of the prior month. Other scouting days could be arranged individually if our normal day does not work for them or another scouting day is needed. Our normal hike gear, lunch and sharing of expenses would apply. Unless prior arrangements are made, you should plan to be out most of the day as groups may be exploring multiple locations for several leaders/ hikes.
