MINUTES, ROSSMOOR TRAILS CLUB, Board Meeting, January 7, 2009

A regular scheduled meeting of the Board of the Trails Club of Rossmoor was called to order by Nora Furey at 3:00pm in MUR 1.

Agenda and discussions were as follows:

1. Treasurer's Report. Dave Leichter reported the club made $193.68  from 2008 Holiday Party.  Fiscal year still goes from Oct to Oct.  Donations for 2009 will be the same as they were for 2008.

EBMUD passes ($55) are for Lafayette Resevoir only.  Group leader passes must be purchased individually and leader must have Trails Club president sign the form.

2. Wording in the Rossmoor News.  Harriet Schwartz requested that the wording "Newcomers or anyone interested in joining ......should call Harriet Schwartz before attempting a hike" should read "should call Harriet Schwartz at 934-7402 FOR MORE INFORMATION".

3. Black book listing the monthly hikes prepared by the monthy hike captains will no longer be used.  Captains will now e-mail/phone the secretary with hike schedule  by the 15th of the month unless otherwise notified.  Meeting has been set up for all hike captains for Feb. 4 after the hikes to go over all regulations and new procedures.

4. MEMBERSHIP

Harriet Schwartz reported there are now 201 members, 5 of whom are new members.  There is much interest in the club.  However, a number of members have not rejoined.  Diane Hinds will phone these former members.  A supplemental list of new members will be made available MORE  than once a year. 

Walter Moeller mentioned a need for a list of members' cell phones who frequently hike to facilitate communication on hikes.  Diane Hinds will take care of this matter.

5. TRAIL MAINTENANCE DAYS

Need for addtional days besides the day now scheduled, Wed. March 18.  Additional days will be Mon. Feb 2 and Mon. April 6  Trails selected in Rossmoor will be Keifer, Deer Highlands, Veltman.

6. SAFARIS

Asilomar: 

For Happy Hour participants will need to bring own wine, snacks hopefully not needing refrigeration.  Otherwise bring a small cooler. A room in a nearby motel will be provided for the festivities. 

North Coast Redwoods  June 8-12

Carolyn Yandle distributed sign-up sheets.  Promises to be a super event with very comfortable accommodations.  Deadline April 1

Camping Mt. Diablo   end of April 

Calistoga early Nov. Donna Liming

Alpine Lodge Mt. Tam  May 12, 13, 14.  Toni Smith

7 DRIVER REIMBURSEMENT FEES

A graduated schedule based on gas prices will be prepared. Dave Leichter will provide price scale.

8. POT LUCK

In the interest of saving revenue and in being "green" attendees are requested to bring their own paper products, glass, & utensils.  Also bring wine if desired. Coffee, tea and tablecloths will be provided by the Club.

Jim Townsend from East Bay Trails will be a possible speaker.

9. Joe Stadum spoke of the Walnut Creek Open Space Foundation.  Joe is applying to be a member of the Commission.  Trails Club contributed to the Foundation.
