ROSSMOOR TRAILS CLUB

 

Trails Club of Rossmoor Bylaws

1.  The name of this organization is Trails Club of Rossmoor

2.  The purpose of this organization is providing information and leadership for Rossmoor residents interested in hiking.

3.  Membership is open to any Rossmoor resident interested in the above purpose and willing to observe trail rules.

4.  The nature of the club is to be an informal body with minimum organization and paper work.  The officers shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Membership and Tech. coord. added 2006. Their duties follow and on separate position description.   Term of office to be November 1 to October 31.  (Amended 10/20.98 –to read Term of office to be December 31- January 1.)

    A.  President shall be responsible for assuring the Club’s activities run smoothly and shall appoint a chairman of the nominating committee and other committees for conduct of the Club’s activities.

     B. Vice-President shall assume the Duties of the President if the need arises as well appoint Captains for each month for (both Rambler and Ambler) whose duties shall be to obtain trail leaders and to secure dates and locations for trips for the following year (i.e. their year as President).

     C.   Secretary shall keep minutes of formal club meetings as well as handle publicity for the club’s activities coord. Hike schedule plus information for month in RM News.

     D.  Treasurer shall handle all financial matters required by club activities, collect member’s dues and maintain the roster of the membership.

5.   Dues shall be sufficient only for defraying expenses

6.  Activities shall include hiking (preferably in groups with similar rates of speed and endurance), Safaris, and social activities to promote club fellowship (dinners, picnics, trail barbecues).  The Annual Meeting shall be in October.

7.   These  Bylaws may be amended by affirmative vote by a majority of members voting at any meeting  of the Club provided notice of the proposed change has been given at least one  month  prior to meeting at which the amendment is presented for action.

TRAIL  RULES (see 2005 rev sep doc)

 1.  Let the Leader lead.  The leader has the responsibility of returning all hikers to the starting             point. A tail-sweep should be appointed so that no one is left behind at any time.

2.  No smoking on trails.

3.  No pets on hikes.

4.  Treat the environment with respect.

5.  Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes, preferably with lugged soles.

6.  All Rossmoor residents and their guests are welcome.
